Greathouse, Hugh
1927-2013
Hugh W. “Pete” Greathouse, age 85, passed away
on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.
Hugh was born on Feb. 9, 1927, in Indianapolis, Ind.,
the son of Hugh W. and Margaret J. (Blessing) Greathouse. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1951
and attained the rank of corporal. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 1953.
On Aug. 20, 1955, he married the former Arleen
Erickson in Waupun. Hugh had been an art
teacher in Kewaskum, Waupun and Watertown High
School and he retired in 1986. He
had been a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife Arleen, their
children David A. (Barbara) Greathouse of Sun Prairie
and Heidi M. (Donald) Schade of Weyauwega; two
grandchildren Nicole and Donnie, a brother George Greathouse
of New Albany, Ind., and a sister Carol (William) Duff of North Carolina,
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jacob and Allen
Greathouse.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at
First Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor John Kennedy
officiating. Burial will be
in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be on Monday at the
church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Children’s
Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee would be appreciated. Schmutzler-Vick

Arlene L. Greathouse
1924- 2016
SUN PRAIRIE — Arlene L. Greathouse,
91, formerly of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016.
Arlene Lillian Erickson was born on Dec. 28, 1924, in
Pigeon Falls, the daughter of Edward and Jennie (Vossetieg)
Erickson. She was a graduate of Eau Claire University in 1947. On Aug. 20,
1955, she married Hugh “Pete” Greathouse in Waupun.
He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2013.
Arlene and Pete lived in Watertown for many years. She
had taught English at Watertown High School and had been a special education
teacher at Schurz school, retiring in 1989. She was a former member of First
Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown.
Survivors include her children David (Barbara) Greathouse of Sun Prairie and Heidi (Donald) Schade of Weyauwega and two grandchildren, Nicole and
Donnie. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents;
four sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Edna Cleveland, Sylvia Behrens and Margaret Ruesch; and a brother, Edward Erickson.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:30
a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Reiten
of Bristol Lutheran Church officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday
from 9-11 a.m. at Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and
Cremation Services.
