Janet Ellington-Dobbratz
Janet Ellington-Dobbratz, age 86, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at her home.
The former Janet Forbes-Ellington was born on Nov. 12, 1925, in Watertown, the daughter of Alvin M. “Dip” and Lois Lorraine (Forbes) Ellington. Janet attended school in Watertown and was a 1943 graduate of the Watertown High School. She furthered her education, receiving a degree in architecture and interior design from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. On June 4, 1947, she married Edward J. Dobbratz in Milwaukee. Janet was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown, the Watertown Curtain Club and the Watertown Country Club. Janet loved the opera and enjoyed watching football.
Janet is survived by a daughter, Lisa Dobbratz of Juneau; three sisters-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Dobbratz of Watertown, Ruth Dobbratz of Madison and Marie Dobbratz of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward, on Oct. 19, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. John L. Kennedy of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. Relatives and friends may call at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or to the charity of one’s choice.
