Ottilie Ahrenberg
"Ottilie Ahrenberg, Union School
No. 1, 1873, Dec. 23"
We received a
geography textbook from 1873 entitled "An Elementary Treatise on Physical
Geography, to which is added a Brief Description of the Physical Phenomena of
the United States," authored by D.M. Warren, revised by A. von Steinwehr. Published
by Cowperthwait and Co., Philadelphia.
It is interesting in light of an inscription on the frontispiece: "Ottilie Ahrenberg, Union School No. 1, 1873, Dec. 23"
Ottilie Ahrenberg was born in Watertown on Jun 1861 to Carl & Katharine Ahrenberg. Ottilie W. Ahrenberg married Charles A Schenk, had 4 children, and passed away in 1946.
There is also an
inscription and drawing by Ernst Arenberg, believed
to be a derivative spelling, and believed to be Ottilie's
brother, who used the same textbook
