Edward Kunert
Watertown Gazette, 12 31 1914
Edward Kunert, one of Watertown’s best known residents, died at 11 o’clock last Sunday night at St. Mary’s hospital, where he was taken for treatment last Thursday. He was taken ill at his rooms on North Fourth Street the previous Tuesday and on Wednesday was removed to St. Mary’s hospital. The cause of his death was Bright’s disease.
Deceased was born in Germany on April 30, 1845, and came to this city with his father, the late Ernst Kunert [E. Kunert Mfg. Co.] , when he was a small boy and made this city his home ever since. He never married and made his home with his parents, caring for his mother after his father's death and since his mother’s death continuing at the old home and “batching it.”
Most of his life he was employed as gardener, but of late years was employed at the Watertown post office. When the post office was in the Masonic Temple he was janitor and since the post office has been in its present location he was special delivery messenger.
He was a man of genial disposition and was liked by a large acquaintance.
On Monday his remains were taken from the hospital to the home of his sister, Mrs. John Kuester on Emerald Street, from where his funeral was held Wednesday afternoon to St. Henry’s church.
He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. John Kuester and Ernst Kunert of this city; Wm. Kunert and Mrs. Rudolph Ertl of Minneapolis.
